Be: Community

Community is the heart of the Be: philosophy.

Be: was founded with the intention of healing while guiding people through the collective support of a like-minded community. Communities are important for a multitude of reasons. One being that communicating and sharing each other’s thoughts and experiences helps individuals to problem solve, process thoughts and are more likely to have their stress levels reduced. Being a social species, we possess the inherent need to have others around us, in fact our nervous systems actually depend on it.

Weak social structure and a lack of belonging elevates stress, therefore cortisol levels increase, leading to all types of disease. Studies show that having fewer social ties is linked to more heart disease, gut dysfunction, insulin dysregulation, cancer and impaired immune function. A recent review by Julianne Holt-Lunstad identified that people with strong social ties and community, increased the likelihood of a person’s survival by as much as 50%. One is more likely to die younger by any cause if there is a lack of social networks, concluded in a 9 year study by L.F Berkman.

In an experiment started by Gianni Pes and Michel Poulain, and further developed by Dan Buettner, a discovery of 5 locations around the world were pinpointed as having the world’s longest-lived people. These are known as the Blue Zones. Upon researching, they found 9 common denominators linking to community, lifestyle and environment. Out of the 9, 4 of them being:

·      Purpose

·      Belonging

·      Healthy social circles

·      Putting loved ones first

Be: Philosophy

Our body is a natural system with complex inner functions, always working to achieve homeostasis. Be: gives people a chance to nurture and strengthen their life force / Qi which fundamentally makes us human beings. Reconnect with your intuition by practicing mindfulness and meditation to reach inner peace. Listen to your body and connect with the energy in and around you. Nurture your mind by releasing your emotional traumas and blockages. They are the triggers that cause you to feel negative emotions and practice bad habits. We have forgotten how to look after ourselves and one another. Be: is here to help you remember.
